Training

The training services we offer not only provide the relevant levels of expertise in the use of RASS, but also provide additional capabilities to enhance the radar principles knowledge of the engineer or technician in their analysis and interpretation of the RASS output. Having the RASS tools you need to conduct performance evaluations on your radar systems is one step towards achieving the benefits that can be derived from using RASS.

Our trainings convey all important theoretical knowledge, but also include many practical exercises. Each participant receives a training certificate.

In the theoretical (in-classroom) phase of the training trainees are taught the functions of the equipment and the concepts of making measurements in a top down approach on a generic (conceptual) radar system (DTI529).

Afterwards the trainees are taught to apply RASS-S in a top down methodology on the customers own particular radar configuration. This provides the customer with the skills and knowledge of any special techniques necessary to successfully conduct Level 2 Performance Evaluations on their own radar systems.

A specialised RES or RTG training can also be offered, during which trainees will learn how to use the software to build and inject scenarios, how to connect the equipment to the radar system, …

A foundation RASS-R training provides basic software module training (e.g. DHM) where trainees are taught the functions and interrelationships of the RASS-R software modules and the introduction to the possible types of data recording, data display and analysis.

An expert level training is where trainees are taught to apply RASS-R in a quality of service methodology on the customers own particular radar configuration. This provides the customer with the skills and knowledge of any special techniques necessary to successfully conduct Level 1 Performance Evaluations on their own radar systems.

The Didactical Test Interrogator (DTI529) has been conceived as a light-weight instrument developed to simulate the basic signals of a surveillance radar. Except for the power aspect, the DTI529 will thus mimic the behavior of your surveillance radar. In order to improve the degree of realism and with the user comfort in mind, the structure of the instrument also resembles the normal radar systems module with monopulse output.

Originally the DTI529 was developed to support the training of the IE RASS-S tools. It allows the radar engineers to practice its main functionalities without the need to have a radar available. In the context of the RASS toolbox the DTI529 is mainly used to compare the different analysis methods. It thus becomes a functional reference tool offering a way to improve the reliability of the conclusions drawn from the test analyses.

  • Generation of modulated Downlink diagram on 3 channels
  • Real 3 channel monopulse receiver for receiver calibration measurements
  • STC simulation for receiver measurements
  • Simulation of 4 separate data streams for data recording training
